CPPIB - Image library/digital asset management system
The Challenge
The Canadian Pension Plan Investment Bureau is a professional investment management organization with a critical purpose; to help provide the foundation upon which Canadians build financial security in their retirement. A global communications team required an image library to consolidate purchases stock images and owned images for easy accessibility and sharing. These images need to be vetted and approved for use internationally on corporate affairs and communications documents such as annual reports, presentations and PR.
The Solution
Provide strategic and tactical management on a digital asset management system (DAM) to support their media assets (digital photos). The strategy was to use current technology in place to create an intranet for storage and distribution. Management tasks included developing taxonomy and cataloguing system for archiving and retrieval of assets. To assist with search a tagging, and a naming convention system was created. To education the team on how to easily access and share images, I developed a “Quick Guide” that was distributed throughout the organization.
